AR-10 7mm-08 Remington Custom Barrel
We make this AR-10 barrel in 7mm-08 Remington. Choose the barrel steel, twist, length, profile and finish from the options on this page.
Why 7mm-08 Remington?
7mm-08 Remington is based on the .308 Winchester case but uses a 7mm bullet. It’s a familiar cartridge in hunting circles because it combines useful 7mm bullet designs with a relatively compact cartridge.
It’s not a different name for .308 Winchester. The two cartridges use different projectiles and aren’t interchangeable. The rifle and ammunition must match the 7mm-08 chamber.
Customize Your AR-10 Barrel
- Barrel steel and twist: Chrome-moly 1:9.5, stainless 1:9.5, or Shaw stainless 1:8.
- Length and muzzle: Choose from the barrel lengths, crowns and other muzzle choices shown for this configuration.
- Gas system: See the available gas-system lengths and optional gas tubes.
- Profile and gas block: Review the barrel profile, gas-block diameter and any compatible fixed or adjustable gas-block choices.
- Finishing: Fluting and appearance options depend on the choices offered for this barrel.
- Other components: Check any matching-bolt selections or related component instructions.
Before You Order
- Confirm your rifle: AR-10-pattern rifles don’t all follow one standard for every component. Check your receiver, bolt-carrier group and other relevant parts.
- Confirm the chamber: Use ammunition appropriate for 7mm-08 Remington.
- Review your selections: This barrel is made to your chosen specifications. Make sure you’ve selected the correct options and understand what’s included.
Fitment note: The product’s existing guidance calls for checking applicable DPMS-style bolt-carrier group fitment.
Barrel Options Explained
Chrome-moly (CM) and stainless steel (SS): CM needs protection from rust. SS resists corrosion better but still needs normal care. The available steel and rifling-twist combinations are shown in the product choices.
Twist rate: A marking such as 1:10 means the rifling makes one complete turn every ten inches. It doesn’t describe the barrel’s overall length.
Gas-system length: The options on this barrel include carbine-length (roughly 7 inches), mid-length (roughly 9 inches), rifle-length (roughly 12 inches) and magnum-length (roughly 14 inches). These names describe the nominal gas-system layout, not the barrel’s total length or the exact measured length of the tube.
What is a gas tube? In a conventional AR system, the gas block directs some gas through a small tube toward the action. A tube is a separate component from the barrel and gas block. If you need one with your order, review the Add Gas Tube? choice; the tube must correspond to the gas-system layout.
Barrel profile: Light, SOCOM and HBAR refer to the barrel’s outside shape and amount of material. Lighter profiles generally weigh less; heavier profiles have more material. The profile can also determine which gas-block mounting diameter appears among your choices.
Gas block and size: The gas block fits around a specific mounting area on the barrel. Measurements such as .750 and .875 inches refer to that outside diameter, not the caliber. Some selections offer non-adjustable and adjustable blocks, as well as None if you already have a suitable block. A matching diameter is important, but it doesn’t by itself guarantee complete-system compatibility.
Muzzle choices: A target crown is an unthreaded finish at the muzzle. The threaded choices on this product include 5/8×24; the thread specification must suit the intended compatible muzzle device. Magna Port refers to gas-venting cuts near the muzzle intended to help manage muzzle rise; it is not the same as a threaded attachment. Gill Cut is a specialty gill-style muzzle cut. Ask us about the current cut pattern rather than assuming it works like a standard crown, porting, or threads.
Option combinations: Some muzzle finishes and fluting styles can’t be selected together. The order form shows which combinations are offered.
Barrel extension: The steel component at the rear of the barrel provides the surfaces where the bolt locks. It is different from the gas block.
Fluting and coatings: Fluting is machining along the outside of the barrel. Cerakote and other listed finishes affect appearance and surface protection.

Common Questions About This Barrel
Is 7mm-08 the same as .308 Winchester?
No. The cases share a family, but they’re distinct cartridges with different chambers and ammunition.
Will this fit any AR-10 upper?
Not necessarily. AR-10-pattern rifles aren’t all made to one universal specification. Confirm the receiver and bolt-carrier group before ordering.
