FN SCAR 20 6.5 Creedmoor Custom Barrel

This is our FN SCAR 20 barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Choose the steel, length, muzzle finish, fluting, and Cerakote color that suit your order.

Why 6.5 Creedmoor?

6.5 Creedmoor started life as a match cartridge. It was developed around aerodynamic 6.5mm bullets, which are often discussed for their ability to resist wind drift and maintain a flatter trajectory than some conventional .308 Winchester loads at longer distances. There’s no single result for every load or barrel.

The SCAR 20 is a rifle many people associate with precision shooting, so understanding the Creedmoor’s background is useful when comparing chamberings. Remember that 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 Grendel are separate cartridges, even though both names start with 6.5.

Customize your FN SCAR 20 barrel

Here’s what you can choose for this barrel:

  • Barrel steel and twist: Choose chrome-moly (CM) 1:8, stainless steel (SS) 1:8, or Lothar Walther stainless steel 1:8.
  • Barrel length: 14.5 to 23 inches.
  • Muzzle: Target crown or 5/8×24 threads.
  • Fluting: Choose six-groove, spiral, diamond, or none for a smooth barrel. Some profiles limit fluting choices.
  • Cerakote: Pick a finish color from the swatches shown on the page.
  • Gas block and barrel extension: Choose new components or tell us which complete assembly you’re sending in. The guide below explains the difference.

Before You Order

  • Check your rifle: This is a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel for the FN SCAR 20.
  • Double-check your choices: Barrel steel, length, muzzle finish, fluting, and Cerakote. This is a custom-made order.
  • Assembly option: Choose new components or tell us which complete existing assembly you’re sending in. See below.

Barrel Options Explained

CM and SS: CM is chrome-moly steel, which needs protection from rust. SS is stainless steel. It resists corrosion better but still needs care.

Twist rate: 1:8 means one full rifling turn every eight inches. It describes the rifling, not the overall barrel length.

Target crown or muzzle threads: A target crown is an unthreaded muzzle finish. The 5/8×24 choice has external threads.

Fluting: Grooves along the outside of the barrel. Select None for a smooth barrel where offered.

Cerakote: A colored protective coating. Choose from the finishes shown above.

What Do the Gas Block and Barrel Extension Do?

Gas block: The gas block is part of the SCAR’s piston operating system. It directs a portion of the gas from a fired round into that system, while the gas regulator controls how the gas is managed.

Barrel extension: This is the steel component at the rear of the barrel where the bolt locks into place. It’s an important part of the completed barrel assembly, not just a mounting piece.

What’s Different About Deadshot’s Gas Block?

Traditional FN SCAR gas-block configurations can include a folding front sight. Our gas block has a cleaner, sleeker shape without that integrated sight, leaving you free to choose your own sight setup.

Our design retains SCAR-style adjustable gas regulation and is made for suppressed and unsuppressed use. We have tested our design with a variety of suppressors. If you have questions about a particular suppressor or handguard, reach out to us before ordering.

Gas Block and Barrel Extension: Which Option Do I Choose?

Choose the option that fits your order:

  • Build with new components: We supply a new gas block and barrel extension. You don’t need to send us an assembly.
  • Submit your Deadshot Barrels assembly: Send your existing Deadshot SCAR assembly intact so we can evaluate and reuse its components. No extra component charge for this option.
  • Submit your FN barrel assembly: Send your original FN SCAR assembly intact so we can evaluate and reuse its components. The extra fee appears in the dropdown.

Sending an assembly? Include your invoice number and follow the shipping instructions in the acknowledgment on the order form. Leave the assembly intact.

What Happens After You Order?

  1. We use the options you selected. If you need to correct anything, contact us as soon as possible.
  2. Allow time for production. The current estimate is 3–8 weeks, not a guaranteed delivery date.
  3. Need an update? Contact us with your order number.

Common Questions About This Barrel

Is this barrel for the SCAR 17 or SCAR 20?

This is made for the SCAR 20. Choose the SCAR 17 product if that’s the rifle you own.

Can I use 6.5 Grendel ammunition in a Creedmoor barrel?

No. 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 Grendel are different cartridges. Use ammunition marked for the barrel’s chamber.

What if I need to change my custom order?

Important: SCAR Barrel Assemblies

Not included: Gas pistons and gas-regulator knobs. Use compatible FN or aftermarket components.

Do not remove or replace the fitted gas block or barrel extension yourself. If you’re sending us an assembly, leave it intact. Improper removal or modification can damage components and affect safe operation.

If your barrel arrives with a missing or damaged component, don’t use or modify it. Contact us with photos. Damage caused by post-delivery modifications isn’t covered under the manufacturing-defect warranty; unrelated defects and legally required remedies remain covered. Return and warranty policy.
