FN SCAR 16 6.8 SPC Custom Barrel

This FN SCAR 16 barrel is chambered in 6.8 SPC. Choose your length, muzzle finish, fluting, and Cerakote color from the options below.

Why 6.8 SPC?

6.8 SPC is short for 6.8mm Special Purpose Cartridge, sometimes labeled 6.8x43mm. It’s an intermediate rifle cartridge using a larger-diameter bullet than .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO. That cartridge size is one reason it’s discussed separately from the SCAR 16’s more familiar chamberings.

Don’t confuse 6.8 SPC with 6.8 Western or 6.8×51. Similar numbers don’t make different cartridges interchangeable. Ammunition choices may also be less common than standard 5.56, and the full SCAR assembly has to be compatible with the barrel you’re ordering.

Customize your FN SCAR 16 barrel

Here’s what you can choose for this barrel:

  • Barrel steel and twist: Stainless steel (SS) with a 1:10 twist.
  • Barrel length: 10.5 to 20 inches.
  • Muzzle: Target crown or 5/8×24 threads.
  • Fluting: Choose six-groove, spiral, diamond, or none for a smooth barrel. Some profiles limit fluting choices.
  • Cerakote: Pick a finish color from the swatches shown on the page.
  • Gas block and barrel extension: Choose new components or tell us which complete assembly you’re sending in. The guide below explains the difference.
  • Conversion bolt: The order form includes an optional caliber-conversion bolt. Ask us if you’re unsure about the parts required.

Before You Order

  • Check your rifle: This is a 6.8 SPC barrel for the FN SCAR 16.
  • Double-check your choices: Barrel steel, length, muzzle finish, fluting, and Cerakote. This is a custom-made order.
  • Assembly option: Choose new components or tell us which complete existing assembly you’re sending in. See below.

Barrel Options Explained

SS: Stainless steel resists corrosion but still needs normal care.

Twist rate: A 1:10 twist means the rifling makes one full turn every ten inches. It describes the rifling, not the overall barrel length.

Target crown or muzzle threads: A target crown is an unthreaded muzzle finish. The 5/8×24 choice has external threads.

Fluting: Grooves along the outside of the barrel. Select None for a smooth barrel where offered.

Cerakote: A colored protective coating. Choose from the finishes shown above.

What Do the Gas Block and Barrel Extension Do?

Gas block: The gas block is part of the SCAR’s piston operating system. It directs a portion of the gas from a fired round into that system, while the gas regulator controls how the gas is managed.

Barrel extension: This is the steel component at the rear of the barrel where the bolt locks into place. It’s an important part of the completed barrel assembly, not just a mounting piece.

What’s Different About Deadshot’s Gas Block?

Traditional FN SCAR gas-block configurations can include a folding front sight. Our gas block has a cleaner, sleeker shape without that integrated sight, leaving you free to choose your own sight setup.

Our design retains SCAR-style adjustable gas regulation and is made for suppressed and unsuppressed use. We have tested our design with a variety of suppressors. If you have questions about a particular suppressor or handguard, reach out to us before ordering.

Gas Block and Barrel Extension: Which Option Do I Choose?

Choose the option that fits your order:

  • Build with new components: We supply a new gas block and barrel extension. You don’t need to send us an assembly.
  • Submit your Deadshot Barrels assembly: Send your existing Deadshot SCAR assembly intact so we can evaluate and reuse its components. No extra component charge for this option.
  • Submit your FN barrel assembly: Send your original FN SCAR assembly intact so we can evaluate and reuse its components. The extra fee appears in the dropdown.

Sending an assembly? Include your invoice number and follow the shipping instructions in the acknowledgment on the order form. Leave the assembly intact.

There’s also an optional caliber-conversion bolt choice. Contact us if you’re unsure about any related parts.

What Happens After You Order?

  1. We use the options you selected. If you need to correct anything, contact us as soon as possible.
  2. Allow time for production. The current estimate is 3–8 weeks, not a guaranteed delivery date.
  3. Need an update? Contact us with your order number.

Common Questions About This Barrel

Is 6.8 SPC the same as 6.8 Western or 6.8×51?

No. These are different cartridges and their ammunition isn’t interchangeable.

Is this a SCAR 16 or SCAR 17 barrel?

This page is for the SCAR 16, not the SCAR 17.

What if I need to change my custom order?

Contact us right away with your order number. Changes may not be possible once production starts, and cancellation terms may apply. See our Refund Policy.

Returns and warranty

Shipped barrels are final sale for discretionary returns. A 15% cancellation fee applies after work has started. We evaluate manufacturing-defect concerns under our warranty and address covered issues through an appropriate remedy. See our Refund Policy and Terms of Service.

Important: SCAR Barrel Assemblies

Not included: Gas pistons and gas-regulator knobs. Use compatible FN or aftermarket components.

Do not remove or replace the fitted gas block or barrel extension yourself. If you’re sending us an assembly, leave it intact. Improper removal or modification can damage components and affect safe operation.

If your barrel arrives with a missing or damaged component, don’t use or modify it. Contact us with photos. Damage caused by post-delivery modifications isn’t covered under the manufacturing-defect warranty; unrelated defects and legally required remedies remain covered. Return and warranty policy.
